How To Install a Shaft Key
Step 1) Make a small dent in the shaft key using a hammer.
Step 2) Insert the shaft key into the groove of the engine shaft.
The dent should face downward into the groove.
Step 3) Use a hammer to gently tap the shaft key into place.
Step 4) If done properly, the dent will provide a bit of resistance and hold the shaft key in place.
Now your pump can be installed without risk of the key slipping out of place.
