Generac Pressure Washer model 1042-0,1,2,3 were very popular and widely sold thru Home Depot and other Big Box stores. The generac 1042 used a 6hp briggs and stratton engine which has proven to be a very long lasting and reliable part of the washer. The Generac pump however has been a problem component and is very difficult to keep maintained and operating on a reliable basis. If you have the Generac 1042 and it has pump problems we recomend installing an upgrade pump ( AXD Series ) instead of buying one of the throw away units currently being sold for $299-399. The Washers currently being sold by the big box stores have non servicable pumps with a life design of 50-100 hrs.
By installing an upgrade pump on your original engine you will be spending less money and getting a better washer with a pump that has a 5 YEAR WARRANTY and should be problem free for the rest of your life with only very basic maintenance needed ( oil change, etc. ).
